Today’s World’s Worst Invention… the Sharpie. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love how 100% permanent Sharpie markers are. HOWEVER, check out this link before going further:

So, you saw those toddlers with Sharpies, right? Thought that was bad? How about this…

This evening, after a greuling day of no naps and super cranky kids, I was 100% ready to go to bed, but I also had a full Etsy order of 100 tags to fufill that need to be shipped out tomorrow morning. (This morning, now.) So my fully potty trained (HALLELUJAH) 3 year old decided he was hugry at 11:30 p.m. and did not want to go potty (don’t even think about going to bed at this hour). So I went into the bathroom myself, leaving him by himself for a few minutes, just as I’ve done countless times before. What could go wrong? The doors were locked, and there were no knives left out from dinner. No harm could be done in the minute or so I was gone, right?

and WRONG again.

My dearly beloved 3 year old became posessed with creativity, found a King Size Industrial Strength Sharpie Marker, and executed his best circles and wavy lines on nothing other than his Just-Turned-Two year old brother’s BRAND NEW TRICYCLE. (The tricycle is the love of his (the 2 year old) life.)

No, he didn’t get it on the sofa. He didn’t get it on the hardwood floors. He didn’t get it on the antique furniture. He barely got it on himself. The G.D. TRICYCLE became a work of art.

Well, let’s just say that My Little Monster is super lucky we live with his grandparents right now, and even luckier that they just so happened to walk through the back door as soon as I was about to completely go nuts.

Luckily, my mother owns some super duty degreaser that they use at the restaurant she works at. It took the boldness out, but there are what I call Sharpie Stains all over the trunk of the bike and the seat.

God Bless My Children.

What’s up with the MTV AM block playing old school music? I really don’t care about Blondie’s Call Me video from 1980.I woke up this morning to Will Smith sporting a hideous hair cut and a Speed Racer t-shirt. Ew. And Kelly Clarkson’s “I Do Not Hook Up” video is stupid… Really.

Boys are up but they’re still in bed. They’re both in toddler beds now. I thought the transition would be difficult for Bug but it really isn’t. Thank God. JBoy was about 15 months old when he transitioned to his toddler bed. That was most because Bug was born and I didn’t want to buy another crib. I take that back. He may have been almost two because we were in FL when Bug was 3 months old and he was still small enough for the bassinet. We came back in Nov, and that’s when his bed was set up. So JBoy was 20 months. OK that’s not so bad. Bug’s been in his toddler bed for about a week now, so he was 23 1/2 months old. I guess it’s because JBoy is so much bigger that it seems longer.

So I’m excited about the Creed Tour coming to STL this time around. I went in 2002 and it was awesome. I can’t believe it’s been 7 years. WOW. That seemed like just yesterday. I’m trying into talking Steve into getting me tickets. I prefer Lawn seats because you don’t have to argue with people about your seats.

SO. Catch up time. (The kids went back to sleep, surprising since JBoy has been asleep since about 6:15 pm yesterday-so he’s been asleep for about 12 hrs. Bug went to bed around 10:15/:30 and has been asleep for only 7 1/2 hours. I’ve been up since 4:30 but feel like shit so I’ve been in bed.)

I never knew how exhausting looking at houses would be! Yes, that’s right, we’re BUYING! Talk about excited. We put in an offer for a house that we fell in love with. We know there was an offer for 26,000 but that’s below asking and we offered a couple thousand over the asking price. I’m hoping that we get it. We should know no later than Wednesday and we requested a reply by 5 pm tonight. There’s no counter offering so it’s basically highest bid gets the house. It’s going for half its worth so we’re hoping, probably a bit too much.

We have a “back up” house. It’s another foreclosure that has been on the market for over 250 days. We are going to get an inspection on it if this house doesn’t go through. It needs SOME work, but not much. It does need air and furnace though. That, and a roof. But Steve does roofs everyday so that’s no big deal at all. It’s a 12/12 though which stinks. The good news is that the roof is in great shape except for the shingles. Steve got up and was walking all over it. The layout is a little funky. We also looked for a house in Ballwin but it needed to be gutted. Whoever owned it last tried remodeling and did a very bad job.

So, pray for us and hope we get the 4bd awesome house we reallllllllly want.

I’m going to lay down some more while the freebies are uploading.

My plans were to have that new freebie scraps site open the day I posted that last post about it. No such luck, please thank my husband and his serious lack of support for all digital media and the arts. I am now working on it in the wee hours of the night, and when he’s not around and the kids are taking a nap, like now, which is very rare.

We got approved for a home loan. YAY. Hopefully in the next few months we’ll find the right house and get the hell out of this place. For those of you who don’t know, we (yes my 4 person family) moved in with my parents this past Christmas. Talk about hectic. They’d just gotten all us kids (there are 3 of us) out of the house, and then here I come, husband and kids in tow. Now, it’s really not our fault. Our first rental was a great deal, and we ended up leaving and breaking the lease because, well, the landlord thought he had the right to just walk through our house whenever he felt like it… which always happened to be after my husband left for work at 5 am and in the wee hours of the night, and only nights when my husband was out of town. Talk about a creepy landlord. We got really scared, and Hubster got really protective (you see, I was pregnant at the time with our 2nd son) and so we moved in with M&D. Then we got a rental at another great deal (Hubby lucks into great deals) and that landlord ended up filing bankruptcy and foreclosed on his home he lived in. We lived in his parents’ odl house which was paid off. So being it a house he owned, he decided to give us 24 hours notice to move out with no explanation. Well with 2 young kids and no money in the bank due to Christmas and home improvements he wouldn’t pay for, we were broke and refused. He broke into the house and started packing our things one night while we were out. We came home, and immediately called the police, who knew him and his situation. He’d waited to move out of his foreclosed home until the Sheriff’s Dept came and MADE him leave. Being a tiny town, the police told us the entire story. They then called him and made it clear he was NOT to come into our house unless it were an emergency and that he’d BETTER give us our 30 days. He said OK, and then within the week someone who very obviously knew were things were in the house and the layout of the house broke in and stole all our wedding memorabilia, like our first champagne bottle, etc. I was completely pissed off and 100% heartbroken, and we filed a police report and told them our suspect was our landlord and/or his son, who is a known burgular. They took our wedding stuff, broke our brand new microwave, broke my crystal champagne flutes, and our lawnmower. Needless to say, our items were never recovered. We immediately moved in with my parents. Now we’ve saved up money and gotten a loan approval to buy a home. We refuse to rent again, aparently renting isn’t a good thing for us.

We’re planning on taking a few months to find the right home. Hubs has requirements, like a full basement and a good size garage, and I have requirements, like my own crafting space, studying space (I’m also a full time college student), good size yard for the boys, good school district, and a separate dining room and living room (–no eat in kitchens).

SO wish us luck, and check in often to see if I’ve posted the new site yet.

I’m so tired today. Bug was up and down all night. I don’t think he’s sick, though… I think he’s been having bad dreams. Becuase he doesn’t actually wake up, he’s still asleep… but he’s crying and freaking out. Holding him doesn’t help. In fact, sometimes picking him up scares him even more. Rubbing his back usually helps until he falls back to sleep. At least he isn’t waking up and wanting to play. That was killing me.

Need to get caught up on schoolwork. Also need to get something together in the crock pot for Aud’s later. I think I might just bring the alcohol and give her some recipes. Not sure yet. Also need to get caught up on the shop.

The Brothers

So Jack got so tired yesterday that he fell asleep at 5 pm. He refused a nap earlier in the day, and could nto even wake up he was so tired. So go figure that t 8 pm he woke up and wanted to stay up. Bug was just going to bed. So I finally got bug in bed and Jack to lay back down. Fat Momma, a 3-year-old, and a toddler bed don’t mix very well. Tricked Jack into staying in bed by telling him that I was going to get him some water. It worked – thank God. Bug stayed up until about 9pm, and finally went to bed. Then he woke up at about 1:45 a.m. and was screaming. He didn’t eat much dinner, so I was sure he was hungry. Climbed the 2 flights of stairs to his room, prayed the whole time that Jack was still asleep. He was, thank goodness. Bug was screaming. Refused to be held, refused his bed, refused the floor. Finally let me hold him but wouldn’t let me put him down. Fought with him from 2:30 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. for him to go back to bed. He ate 2 PopTarts and would not drink his milk. Finally just brought him downstairs with me when he woke Jack up with his b/s. He finally fell asleep sometime between 5 am and 6 am. I was asleep, exhaused. Woke up just before 6 to the alarm going off. Turned it off, and that was hard b/c Bug was asleep on my arm. Slept soundly though. Then I woke up at 7:30 to Bug getting up and out of bed. Of couse. Then he got a plastic ball stuck in his mouth and was freaking out. Pappy had to help him get it out. No idea where it came from. Jack was up and ready to go.

Bug is being obnoxious. Won’t nap. Jack is being good and taking quiet time. Bug’s being as loud as possible. Come noon (in 20 minutes) Bug’s going down for his nap. He must. Hopefully Jack gets quiet too. I have a lot of work to do.

Spring Time

Unlike a lot of people, I really do not like Spring. I hate the rainy weather. I hate the snow one day, blistering hot the next weather. I simply hate it. Don’t get me wrong, Spring has its good days. But there aren’t enough for me. I do like summer, but I don’t do well with heat… at all. It makes me physically ill. I prefer autumn, or fall, whatever you want to call it, and I just love the weather during that time – until it gets rainy. I’m a picky weather person.

Jack is being a royal pain. So is Bug. Jack’s been potty training, but as soon as I told anyone about it it’s like he stopped. So we’re working on it.

Shane is my dad’s little brother from Big Brothers Big Sisters Association, from like 1985 or something. Since before I was around. So he’s basically my uncle because he’s always been in my life. Anyway, Shane has this girlfriend, “J” and she has this son, “T.” T is 5 going on 6 and is the biggest baby in the freaking world. If Jack even walks into the same room as T, T throws himself on the floor and starts kicking, screaming, crying, etc. It’s the most obnoxious thing in the entire world. For real. He’s getting on my last f’ing nerve.

Big Boys

We’ve been dry for 3 days! Night-time too! Jack’s suddenly potty-trained, and I’m loving it! We went for our first public outing yesterday (early, I know) and had no troubles. He went potty before we left, didn’t want to go while we were out (I tried) and he went when he got home. What a big boy! He woke up last night when I was putting Bug back to bed. He got up, pulled his pants down, peed, and went back to bed. Putting a potty in his room really sped things up. Sometimes he pees on himself but not these last few days. He’s been just running to the toilet. (yay!) Looks like preschool is closer than I thought.

Bug’s not even close to potty-training, but that’s OK – I’ll do it one at a time! Jack was already training when he was 18 months old. Bug’s 21, but not at all interested, and that’s OK, becuase diapers fit him! He’s still in 3′s, but I bought 4′s this last time and they fit OK.

Steve’s still in jail. It’s week 3 or 4 now, I lost count. Still have no money, so he’s not getting out any time soon. I need to find a job. Going on Thursday to the mall to fill out as many applications as possible. I hate to get such a crappy job, but right now I need something – anything really. Applied for a few legal secretary jobs, data entry, hostess jobs, and much more. Still no replies even with follow-ups.

Almost done with B’s flyers for the June 19 Fight Fest. They are a bit girly (OK TOTALLY GIRLY) so I’ll have to make some manly ones too.

We’re about to go to the Zoo. I’ve got to get the boys dressed, grab an extra pair of underwear and set of clothes for Jack (just in case) and then we’re off. It’s chilly, but I think they’ll have a good time. I think we’re going to grab our jackets, too.

I’ve been keeping up with a blog that is written by a guy I went to high school with, Alek. He’s in Australia and having a blast. It is so fun to read. I’m adding it to my blogroll.
